What We Offer

 

Private Personal Training

Looking for individual attention to maximize your training? Been training by yourself and want to refine your lifts? Our Private Personal Training gives you one-on-one time with a Starting Strength Coach to ensure perfect technique on every repetition of every set.

Semi-Private Personal Training

Want the benefits of one-on-one personal training while training with other people? Our Semi-Private Personal Training sessions is limited to three people per session ensuring attention on every exercise alongside a friend or spouse.

Large Group

Work with alongside trainees of all different levels and under the watchful eye of a coach. You’ll follow your own program based on your goals and abilities. Early morning and evening groups currently available.

Open Gym

Open gym memberships are available to those who have worked with us for at least three months or have already worked with a Starting Strength Coach. Contact us for more details.

Drop-Ins

We do welcome drop-ins on a limited basis. Contact us for more details on availability and rates for drop-in training sessions.

Bill Coyne, Starting Strength Coach

 

Bill began training with barbells as a teenager at Metroflex Gym in Arlington, Texas. He has competed in powerlifting since 2006 and has coached the basic barbell exercises since 2008. Bill is an alum of St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM, and founded the St. John’s Barbell Club while attending the college. Bill moved to Chicago in 2012 to pursue a career in strength training. Since then Bill started Kratos Strength Systems out of B&W gym on the north side of Chicago.

 

 

 

Spencer Irvin, Starting Strength Coach

Spencer is a lifelong hockey player and a native of Flint, Michigan. He holds a B.S. in Human Biology from Michigan State University with a minor in Health Promotion. From 2010 to 2016, Spencer was the head coach at Black Iron Training (a Starting Strength gym) in Lansing, MI. While Spencer was at Black Iron he was trained under Starting Strength staff coach Chris Kurisko. Spencer has worked with many high school athletes, along with people into their 50s, 60s, and beyond.
